Pyodine preparations are designed especially to
meet the varied antiseptic needs of Physicians,
Para-medical staff and patients in the hospitals,
clinics, maternity and nursing homes, as well as
for common day-to-day injuries. Of all antiseptic
preparations, only Povidone Iodine, as in Pyodine,
is capable of killing all classes of pathogens encountered
in nosocomial infections, gram positive bacteria
and gram negative bacteria (including antibiotic
resistant strains and mycobacteria), fungi/yeast,
viruses and protozoa. It is the only microbicide
with this broad spectrum of activity.
Most
bacteria are killed within 15-30 seconds invitro.
Resistance has not been reported. Microbicidal
activity is retained in the presence of moderate
quantities of blood, pus, mucosal secretions,
soap and water. When used as a Surgical Scrub
the effect lasts 6-8 hours. Virtually non-irritating
when used as directed. Washes easily off skin
and natural fabrics.
Povidone-Iodine
(Pyodine) exerts its microbicidal effect by inhibiting
enzyme essential to microbial metabolism.
Pyodine
Solution contains Povidone-Iodine for
pre-operative prepping of operative
sites and also as a general topical
disinfectant.
